History

Flat Creek is a cooperating Southern Baptist Church serving our Lord Jesus and the Lynchburg community since 1831, recently celebrating 180 years of continuous service.  Flat Creek is a missional church actively engaged in a number of missions outreach on the local, state, and national levels.

Flat Creek is a family - a small part of the larger family of God.  The biblical family structure is today being subjected to a consistent cultural attack.  Flat Creek is a local church that focuses on families growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We believe the Bible teaches that a family comprised of a godly father and mother cannot be improved upon.  Children are an heritage of the Lord and are to learn of the grace of Jesus Christ in the home.   The church is to reinforce the family with the fellowship of believers focused on the Person of our Lord Jesus, who came to bring us to God's family and to give us an abundant life.

Vision

Our vision is simply to engage the commands of the Great Commission.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28-18-20

The Flat Creek Baptist Church fulfills the Great Commission by educating God’s people in the Holy Scriptures and exposing them to the wonderful legacy of 2000 years of Christian church history. Jesus Christ identified true disciples as one who will “deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.” To this end Flat Creek makes disciples through expository preaching and teaching of the truth of God’s word.

We are an incomparable school of life learning to glorify the grace and majesty of Jesus Christ in everything we do!

Flat Creek is a church family in the Wards Road community of Lynchburg, VA. Together we worship in music, biblical study, and prayer, and together we work to share the good news of Jesus Christ to our neighbors, our community, and wherever we are called, so that some might have eternal life.
